A note from Stephanie
Hello! I’m Stephanie. I bring over 25 years of mental health experience working with adults, children, and families to Copper Creek. While I have considerable experience serving adults, my particular expertise lies in child and adolescent counseling, with a specialization in early childhood mental health for children aged 0-7 years.
In addition to providing therapy, I have served as a clinical director and supervisor in community mental health settings and have offered mental health consultation to Head Start/Early Head Start programs. I earned my Master’s degree in Community Counseling from UNC-Greensboro and have been a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) since 2002.
My Approach
As a person, I bring compassion and optimism into each session. As a clinician, I firmly believe therapy exists to make life better. This belief drives my scientific and results-oriented approach, where I use data to track progress and use evidence-based treatments to achieve meaningful change.
My work with children emphasizes parent involvement. Alongside traditional individual sessions, I actively engage parents in the therapeutic process. In my experience, equipping parents with the same strategies allows them to help their children generalize what they learn more effectively at home, school, and in the community, leading to better outcomes.
Therapy for Adults and Children (2-100+ years)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): To address depression, generalized anxiety, and related challenges.
CBT Exposure Therapy: For treating OCD or specific anxieties such as phobias, separation anxiety, or social anxiety.
Specialized Therapy for Children (2 ½-17 years)
I am trained and state-rostered through the North Carolina Child Treatment Program to provide:
Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT): For children ages 2½–7 years to address behavioral challenges. (Think “Super Nanny” but with a highly researched therapeutic foundation.)
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT): For children ages 3–17 to address trauma and child traumatic grief.
